I have been getting some problems in my firefox lately. It freezes often and it happens whenever there is no connection. My internet connection is not very regular, means it often fluctuates between 0kbps and some 50kbps. It’s hard to operate from such a speed but I have to wait for a few more weeks in order to shift to a faster connection.
What is really weird is that, m firefox freezes every time the connection goes to 0kbps and I can change the tabs and see even the pages which I opened up when the line was good. I though maybe it’s because I haven’t yet installed the firefox updates. And yesterday I installed all the updates, even the updated for all add-ons. But the problem still persists and I am getting really tired with it.
Which version of Firefox are you using (Help -> About Firefox) and do you have any extensions installed? If you’ve updated to Firefox 2.0.0.6, my best guess is that it’s extension related. Have you tried disabling your extensions to see if that’s the problem? You can disable them without uninstalling them and then test. If you’ve got more than one, I suggest disabling them all and then selectively enabling and testing each one to find the culprit (if that is indeed the problem.)
If that doesn’t help, I can help you file a bug report so that our developers can look into the problem more.
